Working with CoMotion
Mentor journey
About 5 years ago, I volunteered as a mentor for a weekly group startup sessions. I took a hiatus, and then mentored a startup for I-Corps in Dec 2020. Most recently, I created, advised, and led UW CoMotion’s first group business coaching pilot, supporting Software/IT, Life Sciences, and Medical Devices startup founders to learn real skills and build peer-to-peer relationships. Learn more about I-Corps and the next cycle’s registration deadline.
Favorite project
CoMotion approached me because they had a platform for collaboration called “Circles” that wasn’t being utilized much. We brainstormed “pain points” and I shared that one thing missing at CoMotion was a space for startup founders to connect and collaborate. Each founder brings incredible wisdom and unique perspective. We decided to create a “Group Coaching for Founders” program. I was CoMotion’s “guinea pig.” I set up the entire program and managed it.
Advice to innovators
Smarter, Faster, Better together (from Karlin Sloan). It’s not “smarter than, faster than, better than.”
