Background
As an accomplished technology strategist, Shan is passionate about connecting technology innovations to products and customers. Drawing upon her extensive knowledge in optical communications, she specializes in assisting companies to explore new target technologies and ways to enter strategic market segments. Highlights of Shan’s startup-related experience include investor and member of three startups (two of which were acquired by Intel and Siemens), founder of LightNotes, consulting and advising clients on emerging technology and market research, consulting for senior leadership on strategic go-to-market and multi-million-dollar investment decisions, and advising clients on developing high-speed optoelectronics products in new market segments. In November of 2021, Shan received the honor of being named among the Optica 2022 Fellows, in particular for her sustained professional leadership in optical access networks standardization, and outstanding volunteer service to the field. Shan has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
