Transferring human biological material samples collected at UW to a third party
The UW owner/sender of the bio-specimens must have IRB approval from the UW IRB (or an IRB that the UW relies upon through a written agreement) for the proposed external sharing, if the UW owner/sender can identify the specimens, either directly or indirectly through a link between a code and identifiers. De-identified (no identifying information associated with the samples would no longer meet the definition of human subjects and would not fall under our IRB purview.
