CoMotion prides itself on identifying UW research teams with ideas that can become training resources, can make a direct impact on the community, and have commercial potential. “All Patients Safe” suicide-prevention training is a great example of the direct impact innovations CoMotion helps make available for the benefit of the public and for the development of new technologies by many UW colleges, departments, and disciplines.
CoMotion has been an active supporter (since 2014) of the UW team that created All Patients Safe. The CoMotion Innovation Fund provided the Forefront Suicide Prevention in UW’s School of Social Work with a grant that launched the team’s initial planning and facilitated the collaboration with the School of Medicine’s AIMS Center, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Using funds from the grant and support from Psychiatry and Social Work, CoMotion’s grant was used to develop the online interactive video-enhanced training. With business and marketing strategy through CoMotion, All Patients Safe launched as a commercial offering to Washington State healthcare providers and had its first paying customer within hours of its launch.
Congratulations to the All Patients Safe team for their unique training that will educate healthcare providers and ultimately help save lives.
