Venu is the Associate Director, Patents for CoMotion at the University of Washington. Her work includes patent lifecycle management, developing IP strategy, handling portfolio development, and coordinating with inventors, legal teams, and business units. She joined CoMotion in August 2021 and took on her current role in September 2024. A registered U.S. Patent Attorney, Venu has worked in the intellectual property field for approximately two decades.

With an educational background in biology and chemistry, Venu’s patent experience includes mechanical, software, and life science technologies. Her previous roles include operating a solo IP law firm that advised startups, managing patent portfolio development in-house at a large e-commerce company, consulting work, and positions as a staff scientist and law clerk. Venu is also an elected board member of the Washington State Patent Law Association.
