Beyond Antibiotics: A Smarter Approach to UTIs

If you had the technology to stop something that’s not just uncomfortable but also painful before it ever happens, wouldn’t you? If you’ve ever had a urinary tract infection (UTI), you know how miserable it can be: burning pain, constant urgency, and sometimes even fever. UTIs disrupt daily life. Yet for millions of people, the bigger problem isn’t just getting a UTI—it’s that the infection keeps coming back. And with antibiotics losing their effectiveness, we need a new way to stop them.

That’s where my team comes in. We’re tackling UTIs from a fresh angle—not by chasing new antibiotics, but by stopping the infection before it even starts. The bacteria responsible for these infections in nearly 150 million people annually use a trick: they latch onto the urinary tract with tiny “hooks,” making them hard to flush out. We’ve spent years studying these hooks at the molecular level, figuring out exactly how they work and, more importantly, how to block them. Our patented strategy shows strong promise in blocking this adhesion and offers a potentially more effective way to treat these infections.

Our approach combines cutting-edge science with a clear goal: to prevent bacteria from sticking in the first place. We’re testing new molecules designed to interrupt this process and exploring vaccine strategies that could stop UTIs from taking hold. Our team brings deep scientific expertise, but we also recognize the power of collaboration. To turn our discoveries into realworld solutions, we’re looking for partners in drug development, funders, and advocates who share our commitment to changing the way UTIs are treated.

The time for new solutions is now. By working together, we can develop more effective treatments—ones that don’t just treat the infection but help prevent it from coming back. We welcome partnerships and support from anyone who shares our mission to transform UTI treatment.
