WRF/ITHS Summer Commercialization Fellowship

Overview

Washington Research Foundation (WRF)/Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS) Fellows dig into the world of healthcare commercialization by working with faculty, inventors, innovation managers, and experts. By conducting market research and writing feasibility reports, fellows get experience both consulting and assessing firsthand whether a particular early-stage technology presents a start-up or licensing opportunity. Milestone deliverables and a final presentation are required.

Eligibility

All University of Washington MBAs, Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate students, and graduate students with entrepreneurial interests/backgrounds are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to current students.

Selection Criteria

Successful applicants will be excellent self-starters, highly analytical, and comfortable asking questions, talking with potential customers, or networking with industry experts and other potential mentors.

Application Process

Applications are accepted in February each year, please contact Jessica Roberto at jlb42@uw.edu for a list of available technologies.

Email all application materials to Jessica Roberto at jlb42@uw.edu. Please include a resume and cover letter describing what you could bring to the projects in which you are most interested. Please note that there may be more than five technologies, but only five fellowships will be funded. The intent is to match the strongest candidate to the appropriate technology, so make your application as specific as possible in presenting why you are the right candidate to work with a particular technology. It’s fine to apply for more than one technology, but you must rank your preferences and thoroughly explain your interest in each one.
