Emerald Battery Labs

Emerald Battery Labs was founded to develop safe, inexpensive, and domestically manufactured batteries. Their approach uses a critical mineral free and localized supply chain to produce novel anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. These advanced materials deliver significantly higher reversible capacities as compared to incumbent anode materials, unlocking a step-change improvement in energy density. As a result, they can reduce the cost of sodium-ion batteries to under $30/kWh – less than half the cost of the least expensive lithium-ion batteries from China – capturing high-growth markets where cost, safety, and supply chain security are necessary.
