Mentor journey
I enjoy giving back to the startup community and find the earliest stages of development to be the most exciting. These passions also help me stay current with the latest technologies. Early in my career, I began lecturing on medical device engineering, and since then mentorship has remained a consistent thread throughout my work. I find great fulfillment in helping founders navigate the journey of bringing new technologies to market by sharing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained.
Favorite project
One of the highlights of my career was my time at the startup Spiration. I was part of the development team that brought a transformative technology from an idea to patients with COPD. The product, IBV Valve, is improving peoples’ lives worldwide.
Advice to innovators
Define the problem you are solving, then fail fast, pivot, and redefine. Have the courage to take your ideas to the test bench and learn so you can engineer better.
On the lighter side
Fun anecdote
Years back, I met Christian Bale on the set of Empire of the Sun, and he was adamant that I should take more vitamins.
More about me
A Seattle native, I am inspired by the region’s innovative culture, natural beauty, and strong sense of community. On weekends, if not out enjoying the nature and the Seattle coffee-culture, I can often be found in my garage “over-engineering” a new project for my house or car.
