Professor, UW Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering
James Carothers, a professor of chemical engineering and bioengineering, integrates RNA device design and CRISPR-Cas network engineering for applications in synthetic biology. His research aims to engineer genetic control systems for renewable chemicals and new therapies. He currently has pending applications for eight patents, including one for modular, kinetically controlled functional RNA biosensor constructs and related compositions, systems, and methods.
