Using a hybrid model that combines data-driven insights with physiological research, the app enhances prediction accuracy, helping users better understand their bodies and navigate life transitions. By addressing menstrual-related pain and fatigue, Femur™ empowers users with evidence-based guidance to optimize well-being through movement, fostering a deeper connection between their menstrual health and overall fitness.
Homebased Diagnostics | Using a phased approach, we will develop a range of at-home diagnostic tests that enable users to monitor their health without a doctor’s visit or prescription. Phase I will focus on tests for HIV prophylaxis and treatment monitoring; Phase II will expand to infectious disease screening, including STIs, respiratory infections, and other common illnesses; Phase III will introduce wellness tests for hormones, vitamins, and other health markers. Our easy-to-use tests will deliver fast, private results, empowering individuals to take control of their health.
Mentem.lab | Mentem Lab is a mental health care navigation platform with three core components: (1) a screening tool that identifies suicide and depression risks quickly, companionably, and accurately as no other method; (2) a system that matches patients with appropriate resources—eliminating referral hassles and improving treatment outcomes; and (3) automatic follow-ups and progress tracking that save time for clinic staff while keeping patients engaged.
Multi-Material ELMs | Engineered Living Materials (ELMs) combine the complexity of biological systems with the strength of synthetic and organic polymers to tackle industry challenges. Advances in extrusion-based additive manufacturing now enable precise spatial control of multiple cell species within ELMs, optimizing co-culture systems for enhanced, hierarchical bio-production. This approach accelerates engineering design and analysis, providing a reliable, efficient alternative to traditional simulation and testing methods.
Smart Clothes | This smart undergarment seamlessly integrates health tracking, temperature regulation, and energy harvesting while remaining discreet under everyday clothing. It features washable, flexible electronics or detachable modules for easy maintenance, ensuring durability and practicality. Designed for comfort and functionality, it adapts to the wearer’s needs with real-time biometric monitoring, active heating/cooling, and self-sustaining power from body heat or movement.
Synthetic CNS States | Spatially integrated mechanisms of consciousness are unclear. An approach to manipulate brainwide circuits regulating consciousness via synthetic central nervous system activation may pave the way for more precise transitions in consciousness and reveal underlying mechanisms. Toward this goal, we leverage anesthesia as a tool to probe consciousness at cellular resolution within the intact network and apply whole brain activity-dependent chemogenetic capture of anesthesia-activated circuitry to achieve synthetic states of anti-nociception and altered consciousness induced in the absence of anesthetic agents.
The eDNA Collaborative | Despite the advancements in environmental DNA (eDNA) methods over the past two decades, there remains a significant gap in full-service support for end users, particularly those without specialized expertise. Current offerings are fragmented, with some providers focusing solely on laboratory analysis and others on selling sampling equipment, leaving users to navigate complex decisions around sampling design, timing, and result interpretation on their own. We aim to bridge this gap by delivering a truly end-to-end solution, guiding clients seamlessly from initial project planning through to actionable insights from their eDNA data.
Virtual Plot Alignment Project | Our objective is to help technicians locate preestablished forest plots with precise plot centers for the purpose of monitoring, inventory, or research, by displaying lidar-derived virtual plots for navigation. We propose developing a tool that uses virtual plots established with detailed terrestrial lidar scans for navigation purposes. The virtual plot, or digital twin, can be used to establish plots without permanent monumentation, and is the first step in developing a tool that can collect real-time lidar-based forest metrics.
