Introducing the CoMotion Labs Climate Tech Incubator inaugural cohort

Written by CoMotion Staff / June 24, 2025

Six selected startups move into Seattle Climate Innovation Hub

CoMotion Labs announced today the first-ever cohort of its new Climate Tech Incubator, an eight-month program supporting startups tackling the climate crisis and promoting green technology growth. The Incubator is part of the Seattle Climate Innovation Hub, a collaboration with the Seattle Office of Economic Development, co-located downtown with partners 9Zero and VertueLab.

This group of six companies, selected from a pool of over 30 applicants, encompasses projects on biomaterials, AI for infrastructure project management, electric vehicles and planes, software for product circularity in clean energy, and more. The teams move into the Incubator in July and are scheduled to graduate in February 2026.

In addition to professional workspace downtown and access to UW facilities and resources, Incubator members benefit from ecosystem mentorship, networking, and entrepreneurship training. By the program’s end, companies aim to scale toward their next phase with opportunities for funding and business development throughout the program.

“The companies joining the CoMotion Labs Climate Tech Incubator represent the cutting edge of Washington’s most promising and rapidly growing industries, from aerospace and mobility to advanced materials, AI, and circular economy solutions,” said Ashlee Esteban, director of CoMotion Labs. “These innovators are not only tackling the climate crisis head-on, they’re laying the foundation for a resilient green economy. By supporting these startups, we’re building a future where Washington leads in climate innovation, creates high-quality green jobs, and drives inclusive economic development across the region.”

“ZILA is honored and excited to be part of the inaugural cohort of the CoMotion Labs Climate Tech Incubator program,” said Jason Puracal, CEO of ZILA BioWorks, one of the incoming startups. “After recently completing our first pilot using industrial reactors with excellent results, ZILA is ready to scale production of our bio-epoxy resin for awaiting customers. The program will help us raise our Series A, enabling us to create cleantech jobs, support rural communities, and commercialize our technology, which reduces the carbon footprint for materials critical to a circular carbon economy.”

Tom Gurski, founder and CEO of Blue Dot Motorworks, another incoming startup, said: “At Blue Dot Motorworks we have the technology and business model to cost-effectively electrify hundreds of millions of existing gas and diesel vehicles, and we are thrilled to have now CoMotion’s help growing into the company that can make it happen.”
