On June 4, dozens of CoMotion staff members gathered at the office’s headquarters in Condon Hall for the third annual CoMotion Innovates celebration. This event is designed to recognize and celebrate CoMotion staff members who have made significant, innovative contributions to the office’s work in the preceding year.
“This celebration is about the innovators among us,” said Vice Provost for Innovation and CoMotion Director François Baneyx. “We not only help other people succeed in terms of bringing technologies to the market and making a difference in their paths to commercialization, but we are all innovators.”
All CoMotion staff are encouraged to submit their innovations, to be judged by a panel of the previous year’s winners. Winners are recognized by their peers and given a monetary award.
This year’s honorees are:
- Debra Bouchegnies, senior manager of marketing and business development, for launching a targeted campaign to reach UW early-career researchers
- Lisa Norton, director of licensing for physical sciences and engineering, for designing a course to help researchers communicate more effectively
- Donna O’Neill, director of marketing and communications, for creating the UW’s first-ever Innovation Month brand campaign
- Venu Sareen, patent portfolio manager, for spearheading the development of a “Patent Process Timeline” infographic
Congratulations, CoMotion staff!
