Brian Howe

Entrepreneur in Residence

Brian Howe supports entrepreneurs building ventures that aim to create more value in than they capture. His career has included working as a startup attorney, impact investor, and startup entrepreneur, most recently as cofounder and COO of Elevator (GoElevator.com), the marketplace for teams of developers and tech talent to get hired together.

Brian previously was founder and CEO of Impact Hub Seattle, which under his leadership in 2014 was the fastest growing community and coworking space of impact entrepreneurs in the world. As part of the Impact Hub’s global strategy and development team, he also supported 90+ other locations and 10,000 entrepreneurs. In their first three years, Impact Hub Seattle partnered to help launch Fledge.co – a conscious company accelerator with a global reach that is pioneering revenue based financing for an impact economy (named a 2015 Cisco Impact Accelerator of the Year), KickIncubator.com – now in 30+ cities, ImpactonAir.com – a Google funded media series on entrepreneurship, and VentureScale.co – a consulting firm serving clients at intersection of technology and social impact.

His previous work includes launching, growing, and selling one of the first B Corp certified law firms, with a clientele ranging from government agencies planning interplanetary chambers of commerce to one of the most active impact investors in India. He also cofounded First Aid Arts, an NGO that developed and distributes arts therapy toolkits and training for trauma aftercare providers.

Brian has taught graduate level courses on social justice, social enterprise law, and business management. He speaks on impact investing, business stakeholder theory, effective interventions into human trafficking supply chains, and startup ecosystems. He loves rooftops, cooking with his wife, and always has a podcast recommendation.
